This site includes all published annual reports and significant reports of investigation since 1995. It is searchable by keyword as well as by other case specific criteria. We have also included assorted links to other governmental entities and information that you may find helpful. If you are visiting this site for the first time, I hope you will take the time to learn a little about the history and jurisdiction of our office. This office, created statutorily by the Ohio General Assembly in 1988, serves a unique role in state government. Upon appointment by the governor and confirmation by the Ohio Senate, the Inspector General acts as an independent "watchdog" against waste, fraud, and abuse in state government. Upon completion of a report of investigation, the Office of Inspector General makes findings as to whether there is reasonable cause to believe state officials or employees may have committed acts of wrongdoing or omission. Upon making such findings, we may refer our findings to the appropriate law enforcement entity. In addition to making findings and referrals, we also offer recommendations for administrative change where appropriate.We recognize that the majority of state employees and officials are hardworking and honest individuals. However, when evidence of actual or apparent impropriety exists in state government, it must be effectively dealt with either administratively or through the court system. This office will act to ensure that such evidence is brought to light without regard to considerations personal or political.
